Rachel is a visual artist in Toronto, Canada, since 2012. Primarily surrealist in nature, but with work ranging a variety of genres. Rachel has also forayed into the world of creative writing, and hopes these paragraphs will be the only ones which bore you on this website.
My work explores the gamut of the human experience. I prefer an intellectual rather than just an aesthetic approach to artwork, so I gather inspiration from mythology, science, sociology, history, nature, and everything else.
I see art as the endless shuffling of cultural elements as with the nucleotide bases of DNA. We are a physical piece of our generation, and our arts are the culmination of our experiences framed and reframed every generation to reflect us.
I like to see my personal flavour as something between Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, HR Giger, and Robert Bateman. I particularly like the work of Salvador Dali,Brian Froud, Norman Rockwell, and pretty much anything Pre-Raphaelite... so there are elements of them too. I think. Maybe.
Sometimes Mark Hamill likes paintings I tweet at him.
Once, Ted Raimi came to my page to pay me a compliment on my art.
And once. ONCE. Jemaine Clement retweeted a painting he's in.
I am very smug.
Thank you for visiting.
